Hello, I am Christina, a Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR Certified Therapist. I have been practicing therapy since graduating in 2013. I have lived in Arizona all but six months of my life, and still have a difficult time accepting the blazing heat that comes each summer!
I went to Arizona State University for my undergraduate degree in Psychology, and continued my journey, receiving my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Forensic Concentration from Argosy University. I thought I wanted to work with offenders due to my fascination with true crime- What makes people cross that boundary towards harming others. My interest; however, changed after spending time with that population, and realizing I wanted to work with clients who actually wanted to be in my office, rather than those who were mandated.
I focused my attention and skills in helping the victims of the offenders I once worked with. I held the space for my clients while they worked through their trauma that they did not ask for, which often left them feeling broken and alone to pick up the pieces. I realized how relationships of all types can impact our current lives. Sometimes the people in our lives do not purposefully hurt us, yet the message can still be the same: I’m not good enough or what’s wrong with me? That powerful internalization due to external sources was what sparked my Attachment Style of Therapy.
So now, years later, I offer a safe space to work through the many areas and relationships that have caused our current life stress. I am passionate about how our attachment to others, and our past experiences shape our current behaviors and perspectives. Through an attachment lens, I help find the genuine self-love and validation needed in order to move forward. I utilize EMDR therapy, while offering ACT and DBT Skills for you to utilize in between sessions to help you create the life you want to live.
You are more than enough just the way you are.
